Very slow. - intonation A term referring to the proper production of a tone so that it is exactly in tune.
- riflessivo Reflective, thoughtful.
- walking bass In baroque music, a bass line that moves steadily in a rhythm contrasting to that of the upper parts.
- no chord A directive placed over a note (or a series of notes) signifying that the note(s) should be performed without accompaniment. Typically found in popular music notation.
- stanza The division of a poem that consists of a series of lines arranged together. This is usually in the form of a recurring pattern of meter and rhyme.
- obbligato Literally, “obligatory”. Important part of a music that that should not be omitted.

Repetition. - Tafelmusik Literally, “table music”. Music that is performed at feasts and banquets.
- harmonic minor scale A minor scale where the seventh tone is raised by a semitone, both ascending and descending.
- stretto In a fugue, that situation in which the subject and answer overlap one another, or when two subjects enter in close succession.
- cupo Dark, obscure.
- afflitto Sad, melancholy.
