- contrary motion Simultaneous motion of two voices, one of which is in opposition to the other, with one voice rising in pitch while the other one falls in pitch.
- estampie
A type of early instrumental music of the 13th and 14th centuries, consisting of independent sections strung together. - veloce

Tenderness. - foot joint The last section of a flute, played farthest towards the right.
- galante
Gallant, courtly, elegant. - blues African-American music genre, characterized by simple repetitive structures and by the use of the blues chord progressions and the blue notes.
- gizmo key On a flute, an optional key on the B foot joint which can enhance the responsiveness of C7 (the highest C playable on a flute).
- cupo
Dark, obscure. - figured bass A method of indicating an accompaniment part by the bass notes only, together with figures designating the chief chords to be played above the bass notes.
- malinconico
Melancholic. - subject The melody upon which a fugue is based; a melody, motive, or theme. The theme or melody upon which any composition is based.
- rabbia
Rage, fury, anger. - Gesamtkunstwerk
The integration of all of the arts (music, poetry, dance and other visual elements) into a single medium of dramatic expression. This term was used by Richard Wagner to describe the vision of his later operas in the late Romantic era.
