Tune of the Day: The Tailor's Wedding
Traditional Scottish/Irish jig
The earliest known appearance of this tune is in The Caledonian Repository of Music, adapted for the Bagpipes, being a collection of Strathspeys, Reels, Jigs & Quicksteps, published by William Gunn in Glasgow in 1848. The jig has a history not only in Scotland but also in Ireland, where it is now better known as “The Legacy”, even though the celebrated Irish collector Francis O'Neill still published it as “The Tailor's Wedding” in his 1903 and 1907 collections.
